“As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.” – 2 Timothy 4:6-7 (NLT)
Moving into the senior adult years means realizing that in many ways we are closer to the end than the beginning. But the reality of life for folks of any age is that we don’t know the number of our days on earth.
Two thoughts to meditate on today…
- While our days on earth are limited, through Jesus Christ our existence is not. If you are born once, you will die twice (Revelation 21:8). If you are born twice, you will only die once (John 3:3). To experience unlimited days, you must be born again.
- While you may not know the number of your days, you do know today. God has allowed you the privilege of being a part of this day, and you have the choice of living it for the Lord or for yourself. Fight the good fight today… run the race today…. remain faithful.
On the day that is our last day, whenever it might be, you will be able to face it like Paul talked about it in today’s passage – confident and ready, if you are born again and are dedicated to live each day under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
