Being a Light for the Blind

“Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.”2 Corinthians 4:4 (NLT)

There are lots of folks you and I will be with today that are not believers in Jesus. As you seek to live out the Christ life, there will be times that unbelievers notice the difference between your choices and theirs. Hopefully, observation will lead to conversation. When this happens, we now have our opportunity to tell them about Jesus Christ and how He changed our life.

If you are able to begin a relationship and conversation with an unbeliever, don’t become frustrated or angry about the questions they ask or the way they talk that does not honor God. The truth is, they are doing all they know to do. Today’s passage of scripture reminds us that their minds are blinded by Satan, they are unable to see the truth on their own, and they don’t understand about Jesus.

Your life has become a light for them to see with. You need to love them, pray for them, engage with them in conversation and pray that the Holy Spirit will break through the darkness so they can make the choice to believe. Unbelievers don’t know God but they do know us. If we put them down or treat them with contempt, they will get the idea that God hates them. If we love them and show them respect they will get the idea that God loves them and will be more inclined to receive more and more of our message about Jesus.

Talk to the Lord today about people you are around that do not believe in Jesus. Ask the Lord to help you love them and engage with them in a way that will make them want to receive the gift of salvation through Jesus.
